Today I am going to interview a new writer/actor an filmmaker to the independent movie scene, his name
is Ben Dietels. He has just done a short film (45min) called Camp Massacre from The Massacre Film
Productions which I believe is going to be well known in the up coming months across the net & all our
major horror sites. So enough of the chit chat lets get this interview underway.

Hey Ben hows it going man, Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself,  your new movie Camp
Massacre?

Hey man , well i'm a film school dropout. I sing and play guitar in a band called The Vacancy. I've been making
films since I was 15 years old. Camp Massacre is a spoof on the slasher movies I grew up with.

Where did you come up with the title Camp Massacre?

I always liked the word Massacre. The kids in the film are camping. It just fits well.

What influenced you to become a independent filmmaker?

Just being a horror movie geek makes me wanna make my own film.
What films inspired you the most to write and create Camp Massacre?

The format comes from: Friday the 13th series, Maniac, Madman, Hell Night, Halloween I & II, Evil Dead. The "Benny" character comes from: Wayne's
World, Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

As like most independent movies , a lot of the time the actors are family or friends in town. Are the actors in Camp Massacre friends or did
they have to go though casting auditions?

Friends, family, and students from the John Russo Movie Academy. No casting auditions.

Where is your company The Massacre Film Productions based, and can you give us a brief history of how it start?

Based in Pittsburgh. We started it after we made Camp Massacre in hopes to make more low-budget genre films.

Who are The Vacancy?

The Vacancy is myself, Adam Sacco on bass, Mike Calhoun on Drums. We are a punk band on Anti-Flag's A-F Records.

The Band The Vacancy is bought up several times though out the film, was this added into the movie script or just way to promote the band
also along with your movie?

The initial idea of Camp Massacre was to shoot a new music video for The Vacancy. When I pitched the idea to the kids at John Russo Academy they
decided to make it into a movie. So yes.. It's kind of a way to promote the band and make you laugh at the same time.

The movie only runs for about 45mins, will we be seeing a longer version in the near future?

Due to the overwhelmingly great response this short film has been getting online the answer is YES. We are currently in pre-production to make Camp
Massacre into a feature length film.

On Camp Massacre you played the Stoner Geek with the big nerdy glasses, where did you get the idea to create such a crack up of a
character?

Its a cross between Pee Wee Herman, Garth from Waynes World, Firemarshall Bill from In Living Color, and a various assortment of geeks whom I've met
over the years all mashed into one zany character.

When shooting the film, did you or the cast have any problems along the way?

A couple of the cast members dropped out halfway through the film. A lot of scenes were cut to work around that.

Are you happy with the outcome of your film?

Yes and no. I'll be happier with the remake I think.

If there is one thing you like to change to your film, what would you like to do and why?

I wish we would have ditched the Hockey Mask.

Is there anything you like to say to the people reading this interview?

If you haven't watched Camp Massacre please do so. You WILL laugh. If you have already, please tell a friend to watch. Thanks again.

Okay man, thanks so much for your time, Ben. This was really fun! "Camp Massacre" won't be hitting the theaters, but you can download the short
film right now from the official Camp Massacre website called
www.CampMassacre.com. The clip its about "90mb" but worth the wait let me tell
you that. Best of luck with your film and work in the future brother... And if you need ANYTHING, stop by DVD Resurrections, anytime man.
