Can you tell us what TROMA actually is & what it stands for?

Troma is the world’s oldest independent film studio.  It’s not an acronym or anything, but I can tell you that it
stands for independent art.

When did Troma actually start?

1974.  The same year I brought down Nixon.  And went down on Ford.

Do you see yourself as a Independent Filmer still , either though Troma is now 32yrs old?

You calling me a sell-out?  I’ll kick your teeth in.  I was making independent movies when you were just
another baby in a dumpster.  (Interesting coincidence:  Dumpter Baby is now available at buy.tromamovies.com
– get your copy today!)

What was Tromas first big hit movie?

The Toxic Avenger, baby.

Where did you get the idea to write The Toxic Avenger?

I was having a nice soak in my local YMCA jacuzzi, when three young Asian boys hopped in and started splashing around.  We made friends and started
comparing the relative sizes of our hands and feet, and I told them all of my classic knock-knock jokes.  Then we played Marco Polo for a bit, which is
always more fun in a jacuzzi, if you haven’t tried.  Less swimming, and more contact that way.

And that’s where the Toxic Avenger came from.  God that takes me back.

A lot of Troma films contains graphic violence, sex, nudity & horror. As a Director what type of feeling do you want your audience to feel
while watching one of your movies?

I want them to feel me.  Hard.  Throbbing.  Thrusting and moaning, screaming “I hate my father!” over and over again--- I’m sorry, what was the
question?

Have you had any actors appear in a Troma film that now star in block buster films on the big screen?

David Strathairn (Weejun from When Nature Calls) actually just starred in George Clooney’s Oscar-nominated Good Night and Good Luck.  Then of course
there’s Matt Stone & Trey Parker, Kevin Costner, Billy Bob Thornton, Samuel L. Jackson—the list goes on.

What is your favourite Top 3 films of all time not including Troma films?

1.  King Dong
2.  An Officer and a Genital-Man
3.  You’ve Got Shemale

As a film maker & writer what movies or who influence you the most before Troma started?

I really love that Steven Spielberg.  He just does great stuff.  Have you heard of him?

What Troma movies are you proud of the most & why?

Toxie, of course.  Terror Firmer is a deeply moving, personal story that will always be close to my heart.  I think Poultrygeist will be another break-out hit
for us, though.  It’s smart, it’s funny, and it’s got the best cast we’ve ever had in one of our movies.

Whats the next Troma movie called & what is it roughly about?

Poultrygeist!  It’s a satire about the fast-food industry and our current militaristic political climate.  Of course, the best way to make valid points about
those 2 things is through singing, dancing, and Native American chicken-zombies.

Why Chicken Zombies?

We thought kitten zombies were just kinda gay.

On a Blood / Guts / Gore level from 1 to 10 what do you rate Poultrygeist - Night Of The Chicken Dead at?

Nine thousand!  You’ll puke on the person sitting next to you, and then they’ll puke on your head while you’re still puking, and then pretty soon everyone
in the theater will be puking on each others’ faces and rubbing it in all around, and then they’ll all lose bowel control simultaneously and start shitting in
the aisles and on each other, and the shit and puke will pile up until the building just becomes a swamp of puke and shit and piss.

I think that’s the way they marketed Hostel, anyway.  Hopefully the same strategy will work for us.

Whats the latest Indie film you have seen not being a Troma film?

King Kong.  A nice, low-budget, independent film-that-could, that everyone could get behind.

Honestly what did you think of it , as being a Director & Writer yaself?

Well, be-ung a goode writter and all, I rilly rilly luvved itt.

What advice can you give to other film makers & writers out there who are just starting out?

Spell-check.  Honestly.  You’re killing me, here.

Lately there have been a lot of remakes the last few years that we have been seeing on the big screen if Troma was able to do a remake of
any film what film would you choose to remake & why?

Actually Poultrygeist is a remake.  It’s an updated version of Amistad.  Honestly.

One of my Favourite Troma titles is Blood Sucking Freaks, i remember seeing this when i was 16yrs old. Its probably the sickest film i ever
enjoyed watching & i haven't came across too many films that kinda leaves shivers up ya spine when viewing it. Still today it can have that
same effect on a person when viewing it for the first time , but i read a while back Troma kinda classes this film to be one of there worst
films. Why is that?

All I’ve ever said is that it’s no Doggie Tails.  [Fun for the whole family! Available now at buy.tromamovies.com]

From time to time there have been rumors across the net that there is going to be a Blood Sucking Freaks 2. If it is true are you able to give
us the inside scoop on it?

Yes, it will star Dakota Fanning, and I believe there will be a talking dog also.  I’m currently in talks with Harvey Weinstein about the script, so I can’t say
much more.  Off the record, Keanu Reeves’s name has been kicked around a bit.

Do many Troma films get Blacklisted from the MPAA?

We prefer to say that the MPAA is blacklisted from Troma.

How does that make you feel?

Wet.

What is the wildest thing a Troma Fan has ever done or said to you?

Once, I was at a convention in Toledo, Ohio (that’s a suburb of Bangkok), and we had a big Troma slumber party.  We stayed up really late telling ghost
stories, talking about boys, having pillow fights.  It was so much fun.  Maggy Winterbottom told us she french-kissed Peter Buckley and we couldn’t
believe it!

Seeings apart from Combat Shock and Bloodsucking freaks seeming to have been your most successful non Troma made films, these days do
you now consider just making your own films?

I love making my own films, and I plan on continuing to do it.  But we also love distributing other people’s fine work, so that it can be shared with the
world.

Any clues on which Caged sexoid is now an A league Hollywood actor,or is this just an Internet rumour?

It’s Rosie O’Donnell.  She’s big.  In Hollywood, I mean.  Also she’s a big fat person.

Anymore plans for another Toxie film after the success of Citizen Toxie?

Yes, I have a great idea!  It will be called Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger 4.  Oh fuck, we made that already, didn’t we.  God, I’m high.

Was Class of Nuke em high as successful as Toxic Avenger as it seemed to be here in Australia?

Yes, it made five billion dollars, I believe.  I bought Australia with the money I made.

Do you consider yourself the William Castle of the 21st century?

No.  I think of myself as the Billy Dee Williams of the 20th century.

Have you had much problems with Australia's censoring body or is this left to the distributors?

Yes, Scientology is the one true religion. Thank you for asking. I believe I have some pamphlets in my car that I can give you.

Another favourite of mine which is very "Troma" in style is Street Trash, has there ever been any plans to pick this up?

I pick up street trash all the time.  Which I don’t recommend.  I’m still taking penicillin after last Thursday night.

Will Leroy's Momma ever make a reappearance?

Maybe.  I know your momma will, though.  In my pants.

Have you ever been to Australia or considered making a film here as it would be so much cheaper than in the states?

We’ve thought about it.  Certainly kangaroos and wallabies would be much smarter than our normal PAs.  But as you know, I have very strict no
hopping/boxing rules on set.

Last question Lloyd , What plans does Troma have installed to bring us in the near future other than just horror movies?

Check out Lollilove, which is out this month!  It’s got James Gunn (writer, Tromeo & Juliet) and Jenna Fischer (NBC’s The Office), and it made me laugh
so hard that I peed on a homeless person.  Twice.  Or maybe I was just hitting the sauce hard that night.  The point is, watch Lollilove and you’ll wake up
in a New York City jail with no pants.

Thanks Lloyd for the time to answer these question from all of us at DVD Resurrections & personally you are the godfather of indie horror movies
in our eyes brother, Keep up the awesome work & cant wait to see Poultrygeist - Night Of The Chicken Dead when it comes out on DVD very soon.

Sure thing, thanks a lot.  We love DVD Resurrections here in Tromaville.
