20 Years After a nuclear world war, a handful of remaining survivors return to the surface to in hopes to find other forms of life and to try and
rebuild what’s left of humanity. Sadly, life isn’t what it used to be as the cities have now become ruins and the near by lakes and water supply are
radioactive. Day by day Michael (Joshua Leonard -
The Blair Witch Project) constantly talks on his 2 way radio, playing music in hopes to find
other nearby remaining survivors over the quiet airwaves. A young woman named Sara (Azura Skye -
28 Days, One Missed Call) who happens to
be 8 months pregnant finds some sort of relief listening to Michael’s daily broadcasts as she is cooped up inside a small cabin with a radio and an
overly protective mother. As the days pass Michael soon finds himself surrounded by other survivors who beg for Michael’s help as they too have
heard a dim broadcast coming from another survivor from a near by city. Michael is set off on a rescue mission to bring back the unknown
broadcaster only to be joined by Sara and her mother as she doesn’t want to raise her child in a remote cabin or a cave. As the trio embark on
their journey into the unknown they soon find themselves to only be hunted down by a group of scavenges who want Sara and her baby.

I am a huge fan of post-apocalyptic movies, when I read the synopsis to MTI Home Video latest release
20 Years After, I had check it out. Before I
watched this movie I did in fact have very high hopes for this movie, as I thought that I was going to be in for a movie that was kind of like Mad
Max meets the television show
Jericho. Sadly this wasn’t the case for 20 Years After, as it turned out to be very dramatic, dull and boring yawn-
fest. As I sit here trying to figure out what enjoyment I got from this movie, it’s just not going to happen. MTI Home Video are a highly respectable
company that helps unknown filmmakers release some pretty cool movies directly onto DVD, but it hurts me to say that
20 Years After is a pretty
piss poor release from this fine company.

The acting was boring and not even convincing to say the least. I found myself at times annoyed and on the edge to hit the fast forward button on
so many occasions throughout this movie in hopes to get to the good parts. Actress Azura Skye has always done a remarkable job in her previous
roles in
One Missed Call (2008) and 28 Days (2000) and even in a number of televisions shows such as CSI Miami and House. Unfortunately
the character she took the role of just sat around and didn’t do jack all on screen. Actor Joshua Leonard who played Michael his character got on
my nerves the most as he’d rather sit in a room by himself and talk on a microphone and listening to music. You would think his character who has
spent most his life underground you would be slightly interested or overwhelmed that he has found human life. But nar, he plants his ass once
again in front of the microphone spinning tunes across the airwaves. The script to
20 Years After is simply atrocious to watch and listen too, I
doubt they really sat back and thought about this movie too much.

What is
20 Years After biggest downfall is not the poorly written dialogue but the lack of action throughout the movie, you would think in a post-
apocalyptic era their would be some sort of deformities or cannibalism. If only this movie had some sort of carnage then it could of probably done
alright, but their is no hope for this release what so ever.

I can’t really recommend you buy this DVD right away, just play it safe and rent to buy or you will be kicking yourself in the teeth that you bought
this title and not something else that you had your eye on. Unless you prefer more drama than action or suspense then this movie is right down
your alley.

Twenty years after the bombs fell and the plagues ran their course the few that remain live in fear and
without hope...Azura Skye stars as Sarah in this Post-Apocalyptic tale about a young woman's journey
to deliver the first child born in 15 Years. Sarah's refusal to give up is inspired by a lone voice on her
radio. Michael (Joshua Leonard) broadcasts dim and distant messages of hope mixed with the music he
scavenges from the dead. Forced from her basement home by drought and relentlessly pursued by
those who want her baby, Sarah crosses paths with Michael in a cavernous, underground refuge of
disparate survivors. It is from Three Caves that Michael and Sarah will embark on a journey beyond the
boundaries of the Southern Corridor - and into the unknown future.
