It’s 2133 and the city of Olympus is on high alert as a swarm of bio-engineered human beings called "bioroids" are set on a destructive mission to
wipe out the human race. As various presidents and leaders from all over the world attend a summit where the new world territories try to talk
them into taking control of all their communications satellites so they can then put an end to cyber terrorism once and for all, the city is hit hard
with waves of attacks as buildings begin to crumble and screaming cries from helpless victims are heard off in the distance. Hundreds and
thousands of cyborg humans have become infected by a radio frequency which makes them become mindless zombie-like terrorists who then go
on a vicious rampage killing and destroying anyone who is a human with a blink of an eye. Deunan and her cyborg partner Briareos both members
of the Olympus ESWAT elite police force have their orders to protect the city by any means necessary, but soon find themselves searching for the
hidden broadcast transmission before the city is turned to dust.
When I was growing up the coolest animated series I ever got right into was probably Robotech (1985), where fighter jets turn into MechWarrior
robots armed to the max with pulse rifle machine gun cannons. Ever since Robotech went off the air I had lost the urge to actually kick back and
watch any of those types of shows, well that was until Madman Entertainment hooked me up with their latest release Appleseed Ex Machina
which is probably one of the trippiest 3D CGI animation movie I have ever seen. From what I have researched on the internet, this is in fact the
sequel to Appleseed: The Movie (2004) which happens to also be directed by the same director Shinji Aramaki. Now I haven’t had the pleasure
of watching the first movie just yet, but after watching the sequel I’ll be definitely hunting it down to check it out, as a lot of online critics claim that
the first movie is slightly better than this movie.
One of the coolest thing I enjoyed was that this movie had a bit of everything thrown into it, reminding me of The Matrix (1999) meets Resident
Evil (2002) meets Robocop (1987) meets The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) all rolled into one movie. You honestly can’t get a better
written script as the movie just flowed calmly from the beginning to the very end, making sense every bit of the way. Another bonus was all the
action scenes. With jaw dropping and mind blowing visual effects, to the degree that it felt like the movie was coming to life, there were times
where I was blown away by the CGI effects, the overwhelming action scenes filled with hardcore kung fu fights, the never ending gun blazing
shoot outs, right down to high speed space vehicle chases it never lets up.
If this is what Manga and Anime is all about nowadays, hell my credit card is going to be getting a good workout very shortly because this movie is
simply fucking awesome. I highly recommend you check out Appleseed Ex Machina once you get a chance, but if you’re like me and haven’t yet
seen the first one, well you better buy both movies because this is one hell of a remarkable, addictive series that you are going to dig watching.

Deunan and Briareos are both partners and lovers. As members of ESWAT, the elite forces serving Olympus, they are deployed everywhere trouble strikes. The two fighters find their partnership tested in a new way by the arrival of Tereus, who uncannily resembles Briareos before the wartime injuries that led to his becoming a cyborg. At the same time, Olympus finds itself under a stealth attack. Cyborg terrorism, deadly nanotech zealots, and rioting citizens are just some of the threats that Deunan must contend with as she fights to save Olympus!
