Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Volume 4
2 DVDS/APPROX. 149 MINS/2005/USA MA15+
It’s interesting how a show that is about a milkshake, some fries and a wad of meat can make each series if not more funny, at least as equally
funny as the previous. There is now 6 seasons of Aqua Teen and sadly we are still only up to the fourth season on DVD here in Australasia. To just
get it out there, I’ve been waiting for ages to see this season and I sure as hell wasn’t disappointed.
Rather than run down each individual episode, I will give you the highlights of this season and reasons to buy it. A) it is more violent, b) Carl is
way more crude and sarcastic, c) a cameo from Mr Show’s Bob Odenkirk, and lastly, d) video Ouija which is the best episode on the whole disc. I
managed to catch it on cable a while back. Master Shake kills himself so he can get inside Meatwad’s video game and haunt him, it is by far the
most strongest episode of this season.
It’s all here, the amazing one liners from Shake, Meatwad’s cute little antics, another appearance from M.C Pee Pants, as well as a voice
appearance by Mr Odenkirk and Sarah Silverman you’re really getting your money and comedies worth in this series. It’s just as weird and
nonsensical as previous series, but I imagine that if you are reading this review you are a fan of the show. There is no in between, you simply love
it or hate it. I think that is a fair statement for most of the Adult Swim line-up.
The only disappointing thing about this season is the loss of Dr. Weird and his assistant Steve . Each episode now opens with a scene set in space
and features the Mooninites aka Ignignokt and Err as well as the Plutonians Oglethorpe and Emory, these segments are called ‘Spacecataz‘ and
involve an ongoing feud between the Mooninites and the Plutonians. I find these openings to be not as funny as the Dr. Weird sequences but oh
well, maybe it is because they are not as nonsensical and actually go somewhere, but then I do prefer the surreal aspects of the show in general.
Not a big issue, but it is strange to get used to the new opening.
Also the play all option on this series is literally that. You push play all and all the episodes play at once, nice little Andy Kaufman gag which will
probably only piss off those who are not akin to the sense of humour the show exudes. It’s not a big deal to go and select each episode and push
play now is it?
In terms of extras we get nine audio commentaries, alternative audio tracks, and seven featurettes making this another great addition to your
adult swim collection.

Aqua Teens in Space! Food products living in New Jersey go out of their minds crazy as hell. This is the story of Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad: who live together, unsupervised, somewhere near the Jersey shore. Next door neighbor Carl, has an above-ground pool and an attitude. With a surreal take no prisoners comedy style, cool hip hop vibe and cameos galore! This time we tear ass around the galaxy only to see the Mooninites give us the finger outside our port windows!
