This film is about a college student named Amber Strickland (Grace Johnston) who is driving through the back roads of Kentucky when
unfortunately her car brakes down on the side of the road and minutes later she is abducted by the Hackford family. The head honcho Billy Bob
(Jason Padgett) has a vital purpose in life, which is to abduct unsuspecting young women, rape them, then cut the 9 month old babies out of their
stomachs, slit the mothers throat and raise the infants as one of their own: Just so they can clean up their blood line and not produce anymore
deformed / retarded children. Though it’s a matter of time when Amber’s brothers, Bear (Dorian Kingi) and Brody (Douglas Tait) track her down and
go head to head with the demented Hackford family in an all out bloodshed massacre.
Once I watched this film it appeared that this film did in-fact get a lot of inspiration from basically a number of other films we all grew up watching
and loved throughout our life, such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (gas attendant who is in cohorts with the Hackford family), Wrong Turn (the
family of inbreeds who enjoy eating human flesh), The Hills Have Eyes 2 (raping women to keep their bloodlines clean), Fight Club (where the
women have to fight each other) and not to mention good old Psycho (a dead mother in a rocking chair). Now don't get me wrong this is all a good
thing, but I kinda wish writer Tricia Liebegott and director Stephen Durham came up with more of an original story of their own, and not so much a
knock off of so many beloved movies.
It’s good to see a few solid roles where a female character kicks ass, and looks good doing it. Actress Grace Johnston definitely gets my vote in
this film, when it comes to kicking some inbred hillbilly ass. Her acting skills were fairly borderline at times, but there were a few times where I was
very impressed with her. Actor Jason Padgett who plays Billy Bob, kinda reminded me of Brad Pit from Fight Club within this film, maybe cause he
was wearing his wife beater which was covered in blood stains when hosting the girl on girl death matches. Overall this film wasn't very high
budget, so don’t get your hopes up for blockbuster actors, cause Bloodlines is your average b-movie production.
As for the gore factor within this film, well it was rather low, to tell you the truth. A few impalement scenes, someone’s throat being slit open, a
young mother gutted on a table, a dismembered arm, a knife rammed into someone’s head and a bit of blood and guts here and there. Nothing
too much for the average gorehound to get too excited over..
If you are a huge fan of b-movie cinema, and don't mind watching a film loaded with concepts from other much bigger, well known horror films (like
I mentioned before) well there is a good chance you're going to enjoy this film. But personally I would hold off and rent this film before buying it on
DVD. Other than that, I haven't got much more to say about this film sorry.

College bound, Amber Strickland finds herself stranded after her jeep breaks down on a desolate highway deep in the Southern backwoods. Brutally abducted, she awakens alongside women, imprisoned by a demented inbred family. Her nightmare quickly worsens when he is forced to face the other victims in a fight to the death. What she doesn't know is that the survivors have the grimmest fate of all... to carry on the family bloodline!
