Before Dead Fury, creator Frank Sudol introduced me to one of the most unique, visually disturbing stop animation movie I have ever laid eyes
upon called “
City of Rott (2006).”  Let’s get one thing straight, Dead Fury is not a sequel to City of Rott, it is in-fact a totally whole new fresh
story which pays homage to a number of very well known horror movies such as
Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (1987), The Exorcist (193), The
Hills Have Eyes (1977)
and a little bit of The Blair Witch Project (1999). Just like Sudol’s previous jaw dropping film City of Rott, Sudol is once
again the mastermind behind the whole production (Editing, free hand illustrations, screenplay, voices...etc.) shit you name it this man does it all.

Dead Fury begins with a man named Max Bludharte (who resembles Ash from Evil Dead) that leads a group of deer hunters deep into the woods
to track down some deer and kill shoot it dead. Max's father (a whining old fart suffering from loose bowel syndrome) is starving and anxious to kill
something so he can go back home to take a shit. As he notices some movement deep off into the distance and wasting no time, begins to fire off
a few rounds in hopes of to killing whatever it is. Max soon realizes that it wasn't a deer but some backpacker who has been wandering
throughout forest. As he approaches towards them, Max tells everyone to play it cool, and make out nothing ever happened. Well that is until the
mysterious man gets a few metres from the group, they soon realize he has no eyeballs, and his skin is pale white and flesh is slowly pealing away
from his bones. Max warns the group to slowly walk back the way they came. However before they can escape, they all soon find themselves
being attacked by the unstoppable blood thirsty demon. Max protects the group by firing repeated shotgun blasts to every limb of the deadite,
leaving behind the unidentified mangled and shredded corpse. As the creature comes to a halt, the incantation spirit flees the corpse to seek out
another host nearby. Max and the remaining group soon finds themselves retreating back to a small wooden cabin deeper into the woods, while
Max begins to gather his thoughts on the bizarre situation at hand. The incantation spirit surprisingly returns and starts to possess each one of
the surviving hunters within the cabin, while trying to chew the flesh clean from there bones and swallow their souls. Max is not ready to die
without a fight, armed in one hand his double barrel shotgun and in the other a buzz saw, these sons of bitches are going to know the true
meaning of pain and suffering before sending them straight back to fucking hell.

For those of you who don't really know too much about Frank Sudol, this film-maker is self-taught and has great experience in animation by
working on Trey Parker and Matt Stone's
South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut (1999) as an additional animator and assistant technical director.
Over the past few years Sudol has slowly done his own thing and by doing so, he is now well known for creating the goriest, violent and brutal
animation films ever to arrive directly to DVD with the thanks of Unearthed Films. Once you get the taste for Sudol’s work, you will soon become an
animation gore-hound addict needing a fix of blood, guts and paper-cut gore.

Those of you who are huge fans of the
Evil Dead trilogy well you are going to love every bloody second of Dead Fury, because character Max
Bludharte is without a doubt a 2D cartoon version of Ash from
Evil Dead, he walks, talks and even looks like Ash. If the buzz saw and double
barrel shotgun gore-fest does not get you bouncing up and down in your couch with excitement, then the deadites who take over Max's friends
will. You will even get to see the
Necronomicon: The Book of the Dead in this grueling little masterpiece, while passages are read out aloud, the
voices to the deadites are nearly identical to like what you hear in the actual movie.

The gore factor in this show is fucking off the charts. It is so badass, you will find yourself every 30 seconds saying "Holy shit, that was fucking
brutal" while giving this film the gore-hound grin of approval. Prepare to witness shotgun blasts, buzz saw slicing and dicing to every limb known to
man, decapitations, impalements, disembowelments, stabbings, blood gushing from every orifice, eyeballs popping out of eye sockets, spewing up
blood.... shit do I have to go and on people, you get the drift.

In the DVD extra department once again it is choc-o-block with goodies that will keep you satisfied a second time around. Unearthed Films have
included an audio commentary by Frank Sudol who happens to do all the characters voices throughout the commentary which makes it ten times
hilarious to listen too. You also get a five minute video clip called Making of
Dead Fury where Frank shows you what is needed to get the job done
right and to achieve such animation perfection with a simple pc program called Photoshop, which was very entertaining to watch. Over 40 minutes
of deleted scenes, a stills gallery and a good handful of Unearthed Films trailers.

Dead Fury is definitely an unforgettable animation and will be a modern day classic just like City of Rott; and to be created by just one man within
a one year period it’s simply outstanding. Like I said in
City of Rott review, Frank Sudol is without a doubt the George Romero of horror animation
and this is why this animation film-maker gets both thumbs up from all of us at DVD Resurrections. If you have already seen
City of Rott well then
you already know what Sudol is all about, so go buy this DVD right now! Those who are still 50/50 about ordering this DVD, well cruise down to the
bottom of this review and check out some of the sick and twisted images from the movie or even better click on the You Tube button and view the
trailer. If you dig the trailer, then you will not only love
Dead Fury but also City of Rott, so make sure you purchase both of these titles. You abso-
fucking-lutely don't know what the hell you're missing out on until you watch Frank Sudol's
Dead Fury.

Led by the wisecracking Max, a group of hunters accidentally stumble into the forested realm of a family
of demonic freaks. The freaks are hungry to possess anyone who trespasses on their sacred land, so
Max and his friends must fend off the evil enemy with whatever weapons they have at hand. Shotguns,
pick-axes, knives, rotary saws, weapons of every description are enlisted to dice, slice and sever.
"
Dead Fury" is a fun-filled world of gut-crunching blood and violence!
