Sean (Sevy Di Cione) and his two friends Josh (Adam Green) and Flipp (Edoardo Beghi) head deep into the forest in search for a mythical tree, they
are  also in search for a hidden tomb buried deep underneath it,  in which they hope contains treasure. Soon they realize they are not alone in the
forest, and that  two young women on search for rare flowers are present. Legend has it, a vengeful female spirit named
Satinka who seeks
revenge on those who are walking through the forest, drags their bodies into hidden tomb, where they are never seen nor heard from ever again.

Haunted Forest or should I say Satinka, is basically about a bunch of people walking around in a forest in hopes to spot a tree that has a hidden
tomb underneath it, but they are not aware that the forest is haunted by an Indian spirit that drags those who wanders the forest alone deep into
the tomb that’s below the tree. Yeah I know sounds pretty dull doesn't it? well you’re right the film is rather boring at times. The vengeful spirit
Satinka in ghost form doesn't even look Indian, she is more Asian looking, kinda like you see in many Asian films such as The Grudge and  The
Ring
. Personally I really can’t stand these types of films, I ain't too big on Asian cinema to tell you the truth. There is probably a good handful of
Asian films I don't mind watching, but when it comes to the supernatural theme, it just does my head in. But I will hand it to director Mauro Borrelli,
this guy must have  studied a lot of Asian films, before shooting his film.

The acting throughout
Haunted Forest (aka Satinka) was rather borderline for me, at times the cast did an outstanding job with their characters
and other times watching the dog was more enjoyable. But if I had to pick one member of the cast who I enjoyed the most, well that would have
to be Kiralee Hayashi who played
Satinka. She only had a short role as the Indian women and did a fantastic job with her character, but seeing
her as the ghost
Satinka was awesome and very creepy.

As for the gore factor in this film, well it was rather low. Nothing much really happens in this film, I think it’s more of a scare factor than anything.
But the most you'll see is a few twigs embedded into those who wander the forest looking for the tree, and a little blood here and there, that’s
about it really.

Overall,
Haunted Forest isn't really worth going out and buying on DVD straight away. If you are a big fan of Asian cinema and love films such as
The Grudge and The Ring that has a Blair Witch Project feel to it, well be my guest buy it now. If not just play it safe and rent before buying.
