How great it is to be young!!! A quiet night at the drive-in with my girl, the car top is down, Jerry Lee Lewis is on the radio, Elvis is in the Army,
Little Richard is now at Oakwood College, we now have stereo LP's thanks to RCA, Sputnik has fallen back to Earth, Alaska has become a official
state thanks to President Eisenhower, and the year is 1958 ….. OH WAIT!!!! I'm 33, single, Elvis has passed away, LP's have been replaced by
CD's, an International Space Station now revolves around the Earth, nothing worth a crap is ever on the radio, and the year is 2004. But thanks to
the wonderful people at Paramount, I can sit back place my copy of I Married A Monster From Outer Space, and Pretend it is in fact 1958 all over
again (except this time its via a DVD player, and not a drive-in movie screen).
This little tale is pretty much the same as others released in its time per the "Atomic Age" of film making that had science fiction playing a large part
in the monster creation than that of ghouls, and ghastly creeps. Everything was about the unknown of space travel, and the creatures that where
possibly looking in on use, and could very well be still doing it to this day. Which is why Marge (Talbott) has become rather worried as to why her
husband Bill (Tryon) has become very strange acting ever since there wedding night. As she soon will find out, Bill has been taken prisoner, and an
alien has taken his identity in it's plan to help revive there dying planet by marring human women. Marge must hurry and find someone who will
listen, and help her before every man in the small town has fallen victim to the desperate aliens in there time of need.
This film is not excellent by any means, but it does have a greater element than most of today's films, and that’s a Fun Factor. This movie is great
for a lazy Saturday afternoon, or a popcorn filled weekend night. CGI is still no match for a classic mixture of actor in a rubber latex bug eye
costume, and a simple story line. Nothing but pure fun!!!!!!!
"Shuddery things from beyond the stars, here to breed with human women!"
