"The last time it came the dinosaurs disappeared."
Night of the Comet
DVD/APPROX. 95 MINS/1984/USA PG13+
The Belmont sisters, Samantha (Kelli Maroney) & Regina (Catherine Mary Stewart), awaken one morning to find their neighbourhood littered with
clothing and covered with a red dust. The whole block, and the entire city are abandoned, no cars, no children playing in the streets, no one to be
seen anywhere. They soon realize that the human race has been wiped out completely by the comet that had passed the earth the night before.
Those who were not surrounded by a steel environment when the comet passed the earth were reduced to a pile of red dust. They soon run into
Hector Gomez (Robert Beltran), a truck driver, and head straight to the local radio station in hopes of finding more survivors. They get their wish
and run into a gang of survivors who were only partially surrounded by steel when the comet passed and who’s bodies are slowly decaying and
turning into flesh eating zombies. A group of scientists, who knew the comet was coming, are waiting to find any living survivors in the city, so they
can take them back to their hidden underground laboratory, which was also made out of steel, but they had forgotten to shut the air vents, so
they too are infected. The scientists are trying desperately to find a vaccine before they themselves turn into flesh eating zombies, but to make the
vaccine they need to find people who’s blood is not infected in anyway by the comet. They trick the two sisters into going with them into the
laboratory for food and shelter from the zombies, but the scientists have other plans for the two sisters. They want to drain them dry of their blood
in hopes of making a vaccine to save themselves before they too decay. Can the two Belmont sisters survive the night from the cannibalistic dead
and blood thirsty scientists, or will they too become infected themselves?

Written and Directed by Thom Eberhardt,
Night of the Comet, unfortunately, has now finally fucking made its way onto DVD, and it was about time.
Night of the Comet isn’t a gorefest zombie film, in fact, you probably only see a handful of zombies throughout the whole entire film. But what
makes
Night of the Comet so awesome? It would have to be the atmosphere of the film, where the two girls are alone in the city and head
straight off to the mall to do some shopping "typical girl thing to do, I suppose". This movie is kinda similar to George Romero’s
Dawn of the Dead
when you think about it, but the girls soon run into the gang who are slowly turning into flesh eating zombies who are carry machine guns. The
two sisters always find a solution to their problems no matter how fucked up things are.

Like I said this finally has made its way out on DVD, so i highly recommend you purchase this DVD right now before it goes out of print, like all cult
classics.
Night of the Comet is truly a awesome film and anyone who loves zombie films, is definitely going to love this film. So what are you
waiting for?
