"What are you afraid of?"
Point of Fear
SCREENER/APPROX. 96 MINS/2006/USA UNRATED
Four teenagers, Mark (Linds Edwards), Karen (Erica Bundy), Parker (Casey Payne) and Melissa (Austin Musick), all decide to visit a small town in the
mountains called Pleasant Point to retreat to a lakeside cabin for a vacation. Mark comes across a local ad in the town’s newspaper of a fear
psychiatrist named Dr. Michael Jamison (Jason Benjamin) who helps people get over their personal fears. Mark mentions to Melissa (who suffers
from a fear of heights) about maybe seeing the doctor while they are in town. A few days later, the four go on a hike though the forest, and while
Mark is taking a photo of them Melissa slips and nearly falls off the unstable rocky cliff. The following day she makes her mind up and secretly goes
to see the psychiatrist. Meanwhile, a string of brutal murders have just occurred in the town. Melissa finds herself face to face with the psychotic
psychiatrist, who is suffering from a mental disorder after losing his son, wife and practice in Atlanta. Dr. Jamison thinks Melissa is his deceased
wife Grace who has come back to him. The longer Melissa is missing, the more brutal murders occur in the small town. Sheriff Wade (Steve Miller)
begins to hunt down the serial killer before anyone else dies while Melissa faces a new fear, a mentally disturbed psychotic psychiatrist!

Independent filmmaker Brooks Benjamin brings a suspense thriller that makes you think twice about talking to any psychiatrist about your
personal fears. I wasn't quiet sure what I was going to be watching when I received a screener from the director, but it was a film that had me
very interested and definitely grabbed my attention. For an independent film it had a wicked presentation and felt like I wasn’t an indepenedent
film at certain times.

The cast does a fantastic job on their characters in Point of Fear and Brooks couldn't of picked a better cast to do the job right. Jason Benjamin
(Director Brooks Benjamin brother) who plays the demented psychotic psychiatrist, definitely stole the spotlight in this film, i was gobsmacked to
see a un-named actor, who truly did a outstanding job in capturing his character. I sometimes felt he was going to jump out of the television and
choke the life out of me, when he went into his deranged mental fits. Their isnt that many independent actors that can bring that effect on screen.
And not to mention, even the story was remarkable to listen too, unlike a lot of independent films they are too rushed and poorly written.
Point of
Fear
is nothing like that, though, and you can clearly see Brooks took his time with the film’s script.

The only thing I do wish that
Point of Fear had was a bit more of is blood and maybe a bit of gore from time to time. For a kill flick, there wasn't
much blood or any gore at all. But other than that, this film is highly entertaining and enjoyable to sit down to and watch. I can't wait to see what
future projects Brooks Benjamin gets into, all I know is that I'll definitely be keeping a close eye out for anything that comes from Lycan
Entertainment.

As for the DVD extras, there was no extras on the screener that was sent to me. But as soon as this film gets a distributor i have a feeling you will
probably see allot of behind the scenes, and deleted scenes added to this DVD.

But the only downfall to this film, would had to of been the Lycan Entertainment logo which appeared lighting transparent on the left hand of the
movie and the text in the middle never disappeared. Sometimes it got on my nerves, especially when the Doc went mental. But other than that,
nothing else really didn't bothered me when viewing this film.

Point of Fear hasn't yet been picked up by any movie distribution company as of yet, but if you like to check out this film just visit the Lycan
Entertainment website over at
www.lycanentertainment.com or even the official Point of Fear website at www.pointoffear.com and reserve
your copy right now.
