Slayer
Slayer begins with a young college student named Eric Carlson (Ed Peduzzi) who is
having a hard time getting a signal with his mobile phone. While he wanders around
the campus, he finds himself on a road deep in the woods, where he witnesses a brutal
murder. Terrified by what he has just witnessed he runs back towards the campus in
fear that the killer is going to kill him next, not realizing that he dropped his mobile
phone on the road. Instead of contacting the authorities, he begins to start his own
investigation of what exactly happened, by going back to the crime scene where he
remembers a red car with a the name of a janitor service logo on the car. He soon
manages to track down the killers hideout, unaware that he is being watched by a
hidden security camera deep in the woods. Two men soon pull up in a car and chase
Eric into the thick woods, and capture him and drag him back off to their secret
hideout, to interrogate him and find out what he knows. Eric soon finds out that they are
not deranged serial killers but are  in fact a group of underground vampire assassins
who are out to wipe clean the blood thirsty undead, and find the lead source of
infection. Eric begins to help the vampire assassins to defeat the undead, and save the
town from  being overrun by vampires.

Independent filmmaker/actor Ed Peduzzi brings us a somewhat interesting vampire
film called Slayer. Now you need to forget all about the whole vampire supernatural
myth like you see in other vampire films, because these vampires can walk in the
sunlight, don't have fangs, crucifixes. Garlic or holy water won’t even have any effect on
these bloodthirsty creatures. The only bonus power they have is all in their jaw, they can
bite their way through just about any human jugular. Which to me all sounds fucking cool
in my books, it’s good to know Peduzzi has created his own style of vampire to put in
his film.

All the cast members in the Slayer, are in fact all unknown. Even Peduzzi gets involved
in the film and takes on the lead role and does a pretty cool job with his character. But
the one character I would have to say I enjoyed watching the most was Tom Gibson
who plays the head leader of the vampire assassins named Elijah. The main thing I
loved about Slayer, was the visual effects and fighting scenes. Peduzzi definitely knows
how to shoot a good gory action scene, and especially the throwing an object effect
kinda had me gasping. As for the fighting scenes, well Elijah runs about with a samurai
sword, slicing and dicing vampires left, right and center. Giving us, the viewer that
fucking awesome blood splatter effect like you see in the Lone Wolf series.

The gore factor isn't really that high, but you can’t blame Ed Peduzzi, since he only had
$800 to play with. But you do get to see many scenes containing blood splatter, a knife
rammed into a chest, plenty of head smashing scenes, but make sure you keep an eye
out for the steel pole scene (brilliant scene), a sword rammed right through a vampires
chest and out the other side and much, much, more that I wont go into right now. I think
I have spoiled you guys enough.

Now as for the good, it does unfortunately come with the bad. The film did seem a little
too long to view, and I don't think it would hurt the film if it got a good editing job. There
were too many scenes involving the assassins cleaning their weapons, wandering
around for no reason and playing Mario Cart. Plus adding a bit more kill scenes into
the film wouldn't have hurt the film also, one scene I was hoping to see was one of the
vampires getting his head crushed in with the baseball bat. But other than that, Slayer
is director Ed Peduzzi’s first attempt in filmmaking and to tell you the truth he has truly
done a fantastic job behind and in front of the camera.

Slayer hasn't yet found its way in the hands of a distributor as of yet, but hopefully
someone will pick up this title and give it the justice as it deserves. To sum Slayer up,
to all the horror maniacs out there this film was like watching a low budget version of
Versus meets Shogun Assassin. So make sure you keep you eye out for this film in the
near future.
