Teenape Goes To Camp is a very low budget tasteless comedy that a lot of people are either
going to love or hate, it’s as simple as that. I personally found this film to be a hilarious slapstick
comedy that can be quite crude, sleazy and very offensive in an enjoyable way. Teenape himself
is no doubt a clone personality of character Jay (Jason Mewes) from Jay and Silent Bob Strikes
Back, which he refers to women as bitches, ho’s, sluts and cunts. The guy definitely doesn’t give
a shit what people think of him, and being half man/ape he tends to rag on everyone who is
around him. The plot to this movie is fairly simple: it won’t take a genius to figure it out.
Teenape (Casey Bowker) is called in for a favour by old friend Heather (Meredith Host) to help her
run a weekend retreat called Camp Arawak which she has to train a bunch of new councillors.
After 5 minutes of pleading with him over the phone, she was able to convince him to take the
job, since there was going to be a good amount of “barely legal trim, wanting to be lead by a
master” attending the camp and guarantees him that he will be able to score. Within seconds he
agrees to help Heather out. Once arriving in his Dodge Neon, he is greeted by Heather assuring
him that he will enjoy every bit of the weekend and if he doesn’t, well she will sweeten the deal
by allowing him to fuck her in the ass, which he beings to laugh and replies “Heather, why would I
do something so repugnant”. After meeting all of the rookie councillors, Teenape is not too happy
with the outcome of the whisker biskets (ladies councillors). Heather tells Teenape “when did you
ever care what they looked like, just go for the tit sprinkles or just put a bag over their head like
you usually do, and smash their faces in with a hammer”. Everything was going smoothly until his
arch nemesis Choach (AJ Stabone) a Hollywood superstar rocks up to the camp just so he can get
new ideas for a reality TV show. A few hours later Teenape and Coach both do a tag team on
rookie Honey (Kristen Callahan), after blowing his load he begins coming to camp was worth the
troubles and then dozes off. The next morning he awakes with Heather holding him at gun point
and begins to tell him that the true reason why she wanted him to attend the camp is for a
straight cold death race and the other so called “councillors” are paid hunters. The rules are
simple, if he makes it to the road he will live, but along the way he has to battle the other 9
hunters. Teenape is now on the run for his life, through the forest he runs into father mushroom
(Kurt Indovina) appears to grant Teenape special powers to defeat his enemies. One by one,
Teenape manages to trick his enemies and brutally slaughter the double crossing bastards.
Low Budget Pictures Productions presents Teenape Goes To Camp, which has finally been
released on DVD, thanks to JR Bookwalter’s TempeDVD. When I received this movie in the mail I
wasn’t sure what the hell I was going to be watching. I do remember coming across the official
Teenape Goes To Camp MySpace site a few months back, and checking out the trailer. At that
time it really didn’t get my attention, but JR assisted I checked out the film when I could, because
it was worth a watch. So I finally got around to watching the movie, and JR was right this film
was worth watching. Teenape Goes To Camp is one outrageous film, yeah it might have a
budget value of $100 but it’s the slapstick, tongue in cheek humour that makes Teenape so
enjoyable to watch. I couldn’t stop laughing and chuckling throughout the whole entire movie,
while character Teenape portrays another simular well known character played by non other than
Jason Mewes (Jay) from Kevin Smiths Clerks or Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back. With every
second word coming out his mouth being cock, fuck, shit or pussy, Teenape really knows how to
belittle someone.
The acting within this film is simply awesome, I will warn you, you got to have a taste for low
budget movies to really get into each and every character. The cast all did a tremendous job with
their roles in this film, but I got to hand it to actor Casey Bowker who stole the spotlight with his
performance. From the beginning he got my attention and the grin of approval, for an actor behind
a mask they tend to have to rely on body language more, due to the fact they can’t show any
emotions behind a full faced mask. Bowker nailed his part in this movie, and Director Chris Seaver
couldn’t have picked a better man for the job. Actress Meredith Host (Heather) was another cast
member who I really enjoyed watching, maybe because I am a sucker for beautiful fiery red haired
women, and the fact she was very convincing on-screen with her character. One minute her
character was sweet and innocent, then turning into a tease, changing to a lesbian cotton patch
hater and then finally into a evil crazed double crossing bitch. The rest of the cast were just as
good as Bowker and Host, but I guess their characters weren’t written as strong as Teenape and
Heather.
The gore factor is very low, though some of the kill screens are shot off-screen for a split second
when returning back. Though this film wasn’t meant to be a gory horror film, it’s just for cheap
laughs and thrills. But for those who want to know you do get to see a samurai sword stabbing,
slit throat, gunshot to the stomach and beheading where Jimbo (Josh Suire) is made to have sex
with the head.
The T&A (tits and ass) factor is nil, sorry guys and girls, we get to miss out this time.
DVD extras consists of several extras, you will get to hear a cast and crew audio commentary,
picture gallery, the making of the theme song by The Highgears which was funny to watch and a
few video blogs during the shoot where the director is asking them a few questions. And not to
mention, a good handful of upcoming trailers from TempeDVD and a few old trailers by the Low
Budget Pictures crew.
Teenape Goes To Camp is definitely worth checking out one day, so don’t let the trailer fool you.
If you enjoy watching sleazy low budget movies that contain a slapstick Troma-ish style comedy,
then you are going to fucking love this movie. But for everyone else who likes to take their movies
serious, don’t bother, you’ll just end up being pissed off that you wasted your cash.
"No more teachers, No more books …only Teenape’s dirty looks!"
