Not much to tell really, it’s 105 minutes of Tim Minchin singing and dancing around a stage in tight jeans and too much makeup.

No flaws in the video, image is crystal clear and is presented in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen.

The audio is presented in English in a Dolby Digital 2.0. I observed no flaws in the audio, sound was good, audience laughs and participations never drowned out Tim.

Barebones release, no extras except for some Madman trailers which is a bit disappointing as I recall Rock n Roll Nerd having a few extras. This release does come with a 28 paged song book which has the complete lyrics of the show.

I think Ready For This? Is a huge improvement on material documented in Rock n Roll Nerd. It felt like he interacted with the audience more and seems a little bit more comfortable with his routine. I really hated his style of comedy in Rock n Roll Nerd and felt it was more a chance for him to show off his musical capabilities. Ready For This? Has that to some extent but I guess the main difference is that I actually found some of his stuff funny.
If you like comedy that deals with and pokes fun at issues like gingers, racism, black people, new agers, hippies, feminists then Tim Minchin will probably be to your liking.
Although there was some truly great comedy, there are often half-assed songs that just aren’t as “epic” as others, I dunno I don’t find him as consistently funny as say Bill Bailey who does the whole “comedy-song” genre so much better. I always feel bad for (I think kindly) slagging off Tim Minchin, but I am sooo picky when it comes to comedy. He really is talented musically and has a great presence on stage, perhaps it is silly nature that doesn’t translate well, he can do witty, irony and sarcasm great but songs like “I love boobs” just bring the level of his wit down a notch for me.
Definitely a purchase for Tim Minchin completists and a perfect dvd to start with if you’ve never seen or heard of him before.
