--REVIEW
I’ve been a huge Chris Barnes fan ever since Cannibal Corpse, which he
departed from in 1995 to form his own band called
Six Feet Under. With
Chris Barnes on vocals,
Obituary’s guitarist Allen West on guitar teaming up
with former band member from
Massacre (who laid down the foundation of
Obituary) Terry Butler on Bass and Terry’s Brother-in-Law - Greg Gall - on
drums, they formed one of the most epic death metal band of the mid 90s.
In 1995
Six Feet Under released their first debut album titled Haunted.

Over the years
Six Feet Under have given their fair share of covers on full
albums, which inspired the band to release a full album titled
Graveyard
Classics
, where Six Feet Under manage to pay homage to a number of bands
who’ve inspired them one way or other. Once again the band have released
Graveyard Classics III, which surprisingly covers a wide range of genres
including punk, rock and early hair-metal bands from the early 80s.

The
Six Feet Under - Graveyard Classics’ albums have always managed to
spark a mix range of emotions from its fans, when listening to certain
covers. I find that the
Graveyard Classics III to be worst album of them all.
The punk tracks especially just didn’t suit Barnes’ vocals, I often chuckled
with laughter at the terrible audio mix as Barnes tries to keep to beat while
maintaining his deep-growling vocals. Their was probably a good handful of
tracks I didn’t mind, the strongest track on this album is the cover of
Metallica’s “Frayed Ends of Sanity” from the album And Justice for All, just
hearing Barnes’ thunderous vocals in the intro instantly sent goosebumps
across my skin. Next track was
“Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck” from
Prong
and their album Cleansing, sadly this cover does not come anywhere
close or as good enough as the cover from
Grinspoon from their EP album
Pushing Buttons. And finally comes the Slayer cover “At Dawn They Sleep”
from their album
Hell Awaits, this cover alone definitely got the goat horns,
air guitar-ing and the constant neck crunching approval.

Only the loyal
Six Feet Under fans are going to find pure enjoyment out of
this album. The tracks are definitely brutal, that will please any metal fan.
For those who are still unsure whether or not to buy this album, well you can
play it safe and just listen to a few of the sample tracks on Amazon, before
dishing out you hard earned cash and buying the whole album. Or you can
play it smart and just purchase the selected mp3s for your Ipod.
